For the first time in my lifetime, Victory felt like it was within our reach recently as England impressively fought their way up the ranks during the 2018 World Cup. With every match that we won, my support for the team grew stronger, my running commentary got louder, my crush on Harry Kane got deeper and my belief in their ability got stronger. The potential for Victory had never felt so possible… until it all came crashing down in the Semi Final. They say that the closer you get to victory the harder it hurts if you fall.
In order for us to win something, it usually costs us something. It might require hours of practice, the discipline of training, investment into equipment or lessons. If we lose, it can feel like it was wasted energy, Wasted effort, Wasted time. Yet when we win, it all feels worthwhile!
Did you know Victory really is in your reach? It’s closer than ever before.
No, I’m not talking about who will be Victorious on the football field, who will lift the Wacky Races Trophy, or who will be crowned Kings and Queens of the Dodgeball Court.
An even more amazing victory is in your reach right now… 1 Corinthians 15:57 says:
“God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
We are victorious! We are winners! And it cost us nothing. But it did cost Jesus. Because of the price He paid for us, we can be VICTORIOUS! At SYC 2018 we are going to spend some time looking at how we can be victorious in our identity, in our relationships, in our mental health and loads more.
Can I encourage you to spend some time before SYC to ask God to prepare your heart for all that He has in store for you? Ask Him to help you understand the truth that thanks to Jesus, you are Victorious! I promise aligning yourself with God will never be a waste of time!
